The Borg scales are often used in an “electronic version” i.e. used from within a software (mobile or desktop app, internal software, etc.) or from an online service (non public). In the below sections you will find our recommendations on technical aspects. Note that BorgPerception AB also supports the licensee regarding usage aspects, user interface design and in final review of screen dumps.

View the PDF files
The scale and instruction are provided as PDF files. In situations where there are no requirements on integration with an existing software, the easiest way to present the scale and instruction are just to use a a PDF viewer.
View the scale as an image
When the scale needs to be integrated in a software or viewed online, we recommend that the scale is presented as an image together with a separate input field below the scale. The image can for example be created by first viewing the scale with a pdf viewer and then using a snipping tool (or taking a screenshot and then cropping). Depending on display size it might be beneficial to move the copyright text in the lower right corner to a position below the scale. This can for example be done in an image editing tool. If you need help with this process do not hesitate to contact us.
Support for input by tapping the scale
It is also possible to support input by tapping the scale. Implementation wise this can be done in many ways for example by having an input “slider” hidden beneath the scale.
However, for the Borg CR scale® (CR10) and the Borg centiMax scale® scale (CR100) there are some special usage aspects that makes this approach more advanced from a technical perspective.
- The user should be able to press in-between words/value and for example selecting 5.5 on the CR10 scale. The background to this requirement is that the scales are continuous.
- The dot “•” should not be associated with a specific max value (see also separate FAQ about this topic). We recommend to allow values up to at least 15 on the CR10 scale.
